East 96th Street
These photos were taken on the streets of East 96th Street, in Manhattan, NYC. This street serves as a dividing line between The Upper East Side, where many of the city's most affluent reside, and East Harlem where some of the city's poorest live.
Even on East 96th Street proper, the avenues of 5th, Park, and Madison are extremely affluent, whereas east of 2nd Ave marks the beginning of East Harlem. It is here, that the richest and poorest live so close, and yet so terribly far apart.
This project seeks to highlight the other East 96th Street, the East 96th Street removed from Central Park, The Guggenheim, and The Metropolitan Museum Of Art. This is the East 96th Street from out of the shadows.
