Skaters
A skater is a human being who enjoys riding a skateboard because it is fun. A lot of skaters could be classified as 'punks' but this is just a stereotype. True, some skaters so wear tight jeans and a pair of emericas, but a lot of them just dress 'normally'.

These portraits of skaters were taken in my hometown of NYC. To the skater, the skateboard has become an inextricable part of their being, a part of their soul. It breathes life and freedom into their daily routines, allowing them to escape from the pressures of parents, school, and work.
In this world of youthful reverie, the skateboard allows a skilled skater to fly above the concrete urban landscape, and it is this unique nature of the sport which makes a skater feel so passionate about what they do.
Simultaneously engaging both art and sport, the creative skater is able to throw off the shackles of modernity and materialism, reach for the heavens, and soar.
